Woot!!! There is snow on the ground!!! Oh. . . wait. . . I have to go walking in it. . . NO!!!! But seriously, Erika and I woke up to snow on the ground and flurries still going strong. My first thought was Awesome!! It is just so pretty and then my brain kicked in and said: "You have to go to school in that you know." *EWWWW* I took pictures of it anyway because snow is just so pretty. I just hope that all of the street cars are running normally so that we wont be late for school and so I wont have to stand out in the cold for too long. Either way I will be excited to wear my new scarf!! (Read on for more details!) |
This weekend was really great and I am glad that the snow waited until afterward because it would have ruined the whole thing. I already talked about Saturday but I do have some things to post about Sunday. The four girls that I usually hang out with; Erika, Kerri, Anna, and Jamie, all joined Ute, her partner (who she is "living in sin with", her words mind you, cracks me up every time), and Frauke at the St. Augustinekirche for the Sunday mass where they played a Mozart organ piece, and some orchestral choral pieces as well. The church and music were so beautiful that it made the fact that I was in a Catholic church listening to a German mass much more enjoyable. I think that I will be going back too because every week they have different pieces that they will perform by Bach, Haydn, and some more Mozart. |
After the service Ute took us out to Demel, a very famous, old coffee house that the Emperor is said to have been in. I had a melange (type of coffee) and the Esterhazy cake. It was all so good I am just glad that I waited for my coffee to come before I dug into my cake. It just completes the whole feeling of the picture. We ended up staying and chatting for over 2 hours. Which was awesome for me because I got to talk to Ute one on one about the Holocaust and her class, just one more treat I received that day. :) |
Then yesterday marked the beginning of the first regular week of classes and the day that I bought my first scarf from a different country. My plan is to get one from every country I go to, and not a terribly fancy or expensive one either. Just one that I can wear and know, "I got this in Vienna, Austria!" I talked to Shobha and she was so great about helping me get the scarf that she actually met up with me in the third district and went with me to the store (Asien Haus). They were selling beautiful scarfs, one for 5 euros and 2 for 10 euros. I found one that I loved almost instantly and we headed back to the station |
where I headed back home and she went to go ice skating with her mother. I would have gone but I had too much homework to do and I do not want to spend all money right here out of the gate. I do not know for sure if next weekend will be in Budapest or here in Vienna, but either way I am sure that I will have a great time. Bis Später!
